Collagraph Plates
Free rein best describes my abstract work.
Responding to one shape laid down after another.
I had these figures in my head,
and now they are free.
Each an individual in their expression.
I make my collagraph plates from greyboard and mountboard. Textures are fabricated from gesso, wallpaper and sticky back plastic.
These plates need plenty of drying time after layering up and can take on an importance of their own after several prints have been taken.
The memory of this work is left on the plate, and I really enjoy building them. They have a very limited printing life.
